Waterford Fire awarded federal grant

      Waterford has been awarded a $33,630 federal grant to purchase 20 sets of turnout gear.
      The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration, assist departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical services in purchasing necessary equipment.
      Waterford is of nine Maine agencies receiving grants totaling $869,626.
      Turnout gear consists of fire coats and pants, helmet, boots and gloves. Training officer John Martin and Assistant Fire Chief Bill Haynes submitted the grant application.
