Cell tower update
US Cellular turned on its signal on the Rice Hill tower about 6 a.m. March 11, a year and a half after the project first came before the planning board and nine months after the tower was completed. It is reported that US Cellular technicians will begin surveying signal strength around town this spring and adjusting its antennas to improve dead or soft spots in the signal. Fairpoint is expected to run fiber optic cable up to the tower this spring. Verizon Wireless is expected to start putting up its antennas at the 180-foot height on the tower in the next two to three months. US Cellular is at the 170-foot mark.
