Cell tower update (March 2)
The climbing crew from Wireless Construction has all but completed work on the tower. Tuesday they installed a microwave antenna about 50 feet off the ground. That will be used to connect to a similar microwave on the Streaked Mt. tower. By Thursday afternoon, the two should be lined up and in sync. US Cellular will send its technicians to the site to run diagnostics and go over a check list to make sure everything is in proper working order. The current unofficial prediction is for the signal to be turned on in the next two to three weeks. At right are photos from March 2, including the US Cellular communication building wired up and ready to begin working. Some of the crew are shown carrying the second microwave antenna that will be going up on the Streaked Mt. tower.
