Voters approved Single Stream Recycling at the March 1 town meeting and amended Article 37 to incude $25,000 from the Dump Improvement Fund instead of raising that amount from taxes for the purchase of a new compactor. The process will now begin to switch from traditional recycling with full separation to the single sort method, designed to increase recycling and reduce the tonnage in costly Municipal Solid Waste. Waterford pays 67% of the cost of running the station while Oxford County pays 21% and Stoneham 12%.

ARTICLE 37- To see if the town will vote to change from Oxford County Recyclers to Single Stream Recycling and to raise and appropriate money to buy a new compactor."
RECOMMEND $43,000

(Approved: Town's share - $27,950)

Both ecomaine® and Casella are competing for the town's business. FCR is a Casella company. The Transfer Station Committee will now discuss and make recommendations to selectmen on both the recycler and the compactor company.
