Interim Public Works Director Hired

At their August 11th meeting, Waterford Board of Selectmen voted to hire James "Jim" Kidder as a part-time interim public works director.  Jim recently retired from the town of Bridgton after 20 years as their public works director. Prior to that he worked for the town of Dixfield's public works department for 22 years, the last 12 of which as director.
The selectmen felt that at a time when the highway department is converting to a public works department with three relatively recent hires, Jim's leadership would be invaluable.  As a public works department, the crews' responsibilities have been expanded to include maintenance and repairs of all town property.

This month the crew has been busy inspecting and evaluating all 355 culverts in town,  80 of which were at least partially plugged and have now been flushed, the 4 new radar speed signs have been fabricated and put into service, truck repairs have been made, and nearly all of the  gravel roads have been graded.  Preparations for winter continue...
